Jalalpur is a city and a municipal board in Ambedkar Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.


The most prominent personality of the city is Anwar Jalalpuri, a Urdu poet who translated the Geeta in the Urdu language entitled "Urdu Shairi Mein Geeta". He has also worked in the movie, Dedh Ishqiya.




The second famous personality who had work for the social upliftment of the peole.
He is a great social reformer as well as great patroit. His great grand-father was a freedom fighter.

Jalalpur is located at 25°51′N 79°49′E / 25.85°N 79.82°E / 25.85; 79.82.[1] It has an average elevation of 118 metres (387 feet).
Tons is the river on which bank Jalalpur is situated, this river passes via Azamgarh before merging with Saryu river. It is 220 km from Lucknow. It is 7 km from Kandipur.
12 km from to Jaitpur Newada kala . It is 22 km from Akbarpur.
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Jalalpur had a population of 29,634. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Jalalpur has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 64%. In Jalalpur, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.Jafrabad is the most popular area of this city in the field of "Azadari of imam Husain a.s". It is the main market of Ambedkar Nagar district.The city is directly connected to Akbarpur, Baskhari, Tanda, Rajesultanpur and Azamgarh by road. It is a tehsil of the district. The major nearest villages are Patti, and Katghar Musa, Kandipur of this tehsil. The nearest railway station is Malipur.

Inter College, Radiant College, Amar Gandhi Girls College, Mirza Ghalib High School,Maktab Imamia Mehdia Jafariya National Inter college, Maktab Jafariya, Maktab Karamatiya known as Islamia school ( which is the first school in jalalpur) Jafariya Niswa Girls Inter College, Jafariya Little Flower, Maulana Azad Girls Inter College , Mahaveer Girls Degree College ,Madrsa Nida E Haque Dalaltola , are most famous schools like St. Xavier High School,Al-Falah public school urdu bazar Neemtal and colleges in the town. There are many famous teacher and scholor in the town like International poet and achiever of YashBharti Award " Late Anwar Jalalpuri",International fame poet, and Yashbharti Awarded Dr. Nayyar jalalpur is also belong from this city. famous announcer " Akram Jalapuri and Nayyar jalalpuri", late Zafar Husain zafar (mahto) Jalalpuri. Famous Teacher of English is Peer Mohammad and a great mathematician is Kareem Baba.jafrabad is also famous in cricket, one of most famous team was Jafariya,many trophies won by it and one of them is served as a famous cricket bowler name is Aqib Charlie home ground is NDIC The city is directly connect to Azamgarh, Akbarpur, Shahganj, Rajesultanpur, Varansi, Faizabad, Lucknow, Kanpur by private bus.
