He was elected county attorney before he had even passed the state bar and was re-elected as the Prosecuting Attorney seven times. He served in the Idaho State Senate from 1965 to 1972. He was appointed by Idaho governors to serve on numerous boards and committees for the state–including representing Idaho on the Western States Water Council for 15 years.
