Error: nanodbc/nanodbc.cpp:950: IM002: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]

I am not able to connect SQL Server in R.

code:

library(DBI)
library(odbc)

con <- dbConnect(odbc(),
Driver = "MS SQLServer",
Server = "117.245.141.40",
Database = "xxxxxxx",
UID = "xxxxxxxxxx",
PWD = rstudioapi::askForPassword("xxxxxxx"),
Port = 1433)

Can anyone help me out on this, please?

Thanks in advance.

  • First guess: Driver="SQL Server" (or perhaps any of the updated versions, including "ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server"). Other than that: wrong IP? wrong db name? wrong user name? wrong password entered? wrong port? (Theme of my uncertainty: is there a specific error message that accompanies your perceived inability to connect? What is your platform/OS? What versions of R, DBI, and odbc are you using?)
