Murphy in Henry Jackson Society “unacceptable"

The SNP has today called on Jim Murphy to consider his position with the Henry Jackson Society - a right-wing, neo-con organisation in which the Labour leader in Scotland sits on their Advisory Council.

Human rights lawyer, advocate Niall McCluskey and The Spinwatch group have also called on Mr Murphy to end his membership of the right-wing club.

Commenting on a report in today’s Sunday Herald, Sandra White, MSP for Glasgow Kelvin, said:

“Jim Murphy should consider his position as an adviser to this right-wing, neo-con organisation - it is an extraordinary role for a Labour leader in Scotland to be in, and a huge embarrassment to his party.

"As a Blairite, perhaps Mr Murphy can’t see the difference between what is considered acceptable at Westminster and what is unacceptable in Scottish public life."
