How to update multiple rows in vertica based on a set of different ids?
I am trying to update multiple ids in vertica based on a set of ids but the MERGE command is taking lot of time (around 1 hour) for merging a few thousand entries . Is it better to execute UPDATE a thousand times instead of a MERGE?

Can you post: 1. the MERGE command you're using; 2. the output ofSELECT EXPORT_OBJECTS('','<yourschema>.<yourtable_to_be_merged>',FALSE);
; 3. the same for the MERGE input table? I have a strong suspicion that your physical design does not sort on the ID that you use for the MERGE ..
