Confused with PIP and versions and getting an error due to that
I have installed python 2.7 and 3.7 on my macOS High Sierra. When I try to run the executable python file I get this error:
File "/usr/local/lib/python3.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 781, in resolve
raise DistributionNotFound(req, requirers)
After serching through the infinite internet space I came to conclusion that it might be due to some confusion in pip versions (not sure I understood it correctly).
So few facts that could help you to understand my problem:
I have installed pip via brew and also did
easy_install --upgrade pip
. The last one showed me, that the python2.7 pip is up to date.It turns out I have 3 pip installed in my machine:
which pip
:
usr/local/bin/pip
which pip3
:
usr/local/bin/pip3
which pip3.7
:
usr/local/bin/pip3.7
For some reason, all of them point to python 2.7 when I run pipX --version
What did I do wrong that I am getting the error specified at the very beginning? My guess is that I probably do not have pip for my python3. If so, how can I install pip for python 3.7? I have python3 for 3.7.1 and python for 2.7
EDIT:
It turns out I do have pip for python 3.7 after typing this:
python3 -m pip --version
python pip
