NuGet source code transformation (C#) file not installing in consuming application
I have a multitargeted (.NET 471 + Standard2.0) NuGet package which contains a class to be shared across a number of applications. I'd like to transform the namespace using the $RootNamespace$ token so the instance of the file in the consuming application shares the same namespace as the consuming application.
I've done what is outlined here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/nuget/create-packages/source-and-config-file-transformations
However, the transformed file never ends up in the consuming application. I included a dummy class with no transformation applied, and that does successfully get installed into the consuming application.
Source Code:
TransformationTester.cs.pp
namespace $RootNamespace$
public static class TransformationTester
public static string foo = "bar";
TesterNoTransformation.cs
namespace abc
public static class TesterNoTransformation
public static string foo = "bar";
Project.csproj
<ItemGroup>
<None Remove="TransformationTester.cs.pp" />
</ItemGroup>
<ItemGroup>
<Content Include="TransformationTester.cs.pp" />
<Content Include="TesterNoTransformation.cs" />
</ItemGroup>
Published NuGet Package (only relevant files)
-content
-TesterNoTransformation.cs
-TransformationTester.cs.pp
-contentFiles
-any
-net471
-TesterNoTransformation.cs
-TransformationTester.cs.pp
-netstandard2.0
-TesterNoTransformation.cs
-TransformationTester.cs.pp
-Project.nuspec
In Project.nuspec
<contentFiles>
<files include="any/net471/TransformationTester.cs.pp" buildAction="Content" />
<files include="any/netstandard2.0/TransformationTester.cs.pp" buildAction="Content" />
<files include="any/net471/TesterNoTransformation.cs" buildAction="Content" />
<files include="any/netstandard2.0/TesterNoTransformation.cs" buildAction="Content" />
</contentFiles>
After installing the package, TesterNoTransformation.cs winds up in the consuming application and TransformationTester.cs does not.
Any thoughts? I've been fighting with this today.
