Rudine (Serbian Cyrillic: Рудине) was a medieval župa (county) located near Rogatica (now in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina), mentioned in the 14th century as part of the Kingdom of Serbia and Serbian Empire.
According to Ragusan chronicler Mavro Orbini (1563–1614), Serbian King Stefan Dečanski (r. 1322–31) gave the crown land of Hum to the influential nobleman Vojin (fl. 1322–47), however, it is known that Vojin held Gacko (1327), while his brother Hrvatin held Rudine, the latter having inflicted damages to the Republic of Ragusa in 1330.[1] The veliki čelnik Dimitrije (d. 6 March 1349) of Emperor Stefan Dušan (r. 1331–55) buried at the Monastery of St. Nicholas at Banja in 1349, possibly Hrvatin, had held Gacko with Rudine, Drina and Dabar.[2] The Vojinović noble family (Vojin's three sons) held large territories in the western part of the Serbian state; magnate Vojislav Vojinović (fl. 1350–d. 1363) managed to unite these territories under his rule.[1]Vuk Kosača (1317–1359) who served Stefan Dušan and distinguished himself in the military, was awarded the spacious province[3] of Rudine.[4] According to G. Tomović the possessions were located around Rogatica (now in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina).[5]
