Can't recieve messages list from Socket.IO chat server on client side

0

I am trying to create a client side interface for a chat server.
There is a Socket.IO chat server running that I don't have an access to, only have it as a url.
When entering this url on my browser this is shown in a <pre> tag:

"message":"This is a chat server. Please send all your requests to the "Chatroom" channel"

on the index.js I have on my client side it says:

const socket = io("https://ThisChatServerUrlHere");

socket.on("connect", function ()
console.log("connected to chat server!");
);

socket.on("disconnect", function ()
console.log("disconnected from chat server!");
);

I have no knowledge in Socket.IO but I read everything on the internet, As much as I understand there is already a message that the server emits (to client and to url <pre> tag) and I only need to figure out how to receive this messages list from it via the specfic channel/event name I have been given.

Will appreciate any help.

  • Is this all the information you have about the chat service, and the chat server?
